Father, Gilles Robert de Vaugondy, and son Didier Robert De Vaugondy, were the leading map makers in France during the 1700s. Didier was appointed geographer to Louis XV in 1760 and published globes of various sizes, the biggest was a diameter of 2.6m, 8.5'!
