Scrimshaw' is an ancient sailors' art form - the carving and staining of intricate patterns onto the polished teeth and bone of whales. Whaling is of course now banned, but this distinctive style is preserved through the invention of a man-made ivory substitute, which is difficult to distinguish from the real thing. Our GAMES BOX is etched with shells and anchors. Compartments contain two packs of good quality playing cards, a set of poker dice and four cribbage pegs.
The lid is etched with an illustration of seamen playing cards in a dockside ale house and includes holes for cribbage scoring.
