Klimt - The Fulfilment

The manufacturing process used to produce these tapestries has remained basically the same for the last 200 years. These traditional tapestries are woven on jacquard mechanical looms in Flanders, the home of tapestry since medieval times. The Fulfilment was one of Gustav Klimt's designs for the Stoclet Frieze in 1905-1909. The design was one of nine panels in the frieze, commissioned by Adolphe Stoclet, a Belgian industrialist. It is made in part of mosaic - marble inlaid with gold, enamel and semi-precious stones. The couple represents the theme of Fulfilment; as embracing lovers they symbolise domestic happiness and joie de vivre. All tapestries are supplied with a cotton lining and an integral sleeve for the hanging pole. size 75cm x 45cm
